Amy is a very skilled Occupational Therapist and Case Manager with over 15 years’ experience of working in the health and social care field. She has a wide range of experience working with a variety of client groups, including paediatrics and adults with physical and learning disabilities, orthopaedic injuries, brain injuries and spinal injuries.
During her career Amy has developed her clinical skills extensively within the Neurological field. Her ability to carry out holistic and detailed assessments provides her with a foundation to recommend care packages and rehabilitation programmes, as well as building and developing goal-focused support plans.
Amy demonstrates adaptive and transferable skills and embraces change. Amy is very confident in providing clinical reasoning for her work and has developed her skills and knowledge in complex cases.
Prior to gaining her degree in Occupational Therapy (2005), Amy worked as a Learning Support assistant within a mainstream school, supporting children with special needs and challenging behaviour. Whilst working there she developed a sound knowledge of Health and Safety and Child Protection issues. She worked with pupils who had a range of physical and educational special needs including Cerebral Palsy. Amy furthered her skills in paediatrics by working as a “One to One” play scheme worker for NCH Action for Children. Within this service she developed knowledge and skills with children with severe learning disabilities and complex physical disabilities.
Amy is used to working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team and has a good understanding of health and social care that can meet the needs of clients. She is able to deal with challenging situations in a professional manner and feels that her communication ability, diplomacy and personal character make her an effective team player within the case management profession. She has a positive approach to her working practice and is able to be flexible with her clients and families.
Amy is a confident and creative professional who is motivated, enthusiastic, efficient and well organised.
Her professional experience as an Occupational Therapist allows her to work well within the litigation arena to provide Case management with adults and paediatrics with complex needs.
