Elizabeth has over 30 years of experience as an occupational therapist within the NHS, social care, education, and charity sectors. She has worked with people of all ages in a variety of settings, including acute hospital, a child development centre, mainstream/specialised schools, residential care, and clients’ homes. She is highly accomplished in working with clients of all ages, particularly those with cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, complex injuries, depression, dementia, dyspraxia, and coordination difficulties. Elizabeth is self-employed, providing occupational therapy and case management services.
Elizabeth works with her clients (and their families and carers) to assess, plan, implement and monitor packages to establish and maintain successful engagement in everyday activities such as activities of daily living, leisure, education and employment. Intervention includes assisting clients to integrate rehabilitation programmes into everyday life, providing coaching related to achievement of goals, advising on equipment/minor adaptations/specialist seating/positioning, developing activity profiles to guide carers in supporting meaningful activity, enabling access to education, and risk assessment/management.
Elizabeth is holistic and empathetic towards her clients and their families. She employs a truly client-led approach in coordination of care and rehabilitation, and when goal-planning, thereby incorporating choice and control into their lives. She is highly effective at liaising with (and where necessary, coordinating) clients, client’s families, carers, agencies, multidisciplinary teams, statutory services and other professionals.
Elizabeth is the Scottish regional representative for RCOTSS-IP.
