BSc (hons) Occupational Therapy

Helen qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1999. Since then she has become highly experienced in the fields of orthopaedics, physical medicine, care of the elderly and adult mental health. She has worked as a Senior Occupational Therapist specialising in elderly rehabilitation and has a wealth of experience in community Occupational Therapy, working with adults of all ages with diverse diagnoses. She is currently a key member of a NHS community resource team.

Helen has worked extensively in multi-disciplinary team environments throughout her career, but is nevertheless equally well suited to working independently. She is well versed in working with statutory, private and voluntary organisations and has a strong foundation in providing supervision to staff and students. She has also lectured occupational therapy post graduate students. Helen is a Dementia champion with the NHS and the Alzheimer’s society.

Helen has honed a holistic approach to her work, motivating individuals to maximise their capabilities, whilst encouraging independence and ensuring that their safety is upheld. As a Case Manager, her broad range of experience enables her to interact with clients and their families and friends at an extremely professional yet personable level, even under the most testing of circumstances. Helen’s clinical knowledge and expertise means that she provides her clients with the ability to approach rehabilitation with clarity and resolve. Helen delivers carefully tailored care and rehabilitation packages, whilst identifying essential home adaptations and equipment needs.

Helen’s experience in the field of occupational therapy has provided her with an excellent ability to deal efficiently and professionally with a wealth of diverse and demanding client caseloads.
