Ba Occupational Therapy
Safi Madar is an occupational therapist of South African origin, having qualified from the Medical
University of Southern Africa in 1999 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Degree. Since
qualifying, Safi has worked in the field of rehabilitation with individuals with a wide range of
conditions including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, learning
disabilities, burns and mental health conditions.
Between 2003 and 2012, Safi worked in the NHS on a rehabilitation ward providing therapy to
individuals with traumatic brain injury and stroke. She has extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary setting, liaising with a wide range of professionals and carers on equipment,
housing adaptations, posture and seating, mobility, and hand therapy.
From 2013, Safi worked as a care and occupational therapy expert and is familiar with her role as a case manager within the medicolegal setting.
Safi has been a case manager since 2016, overseeing and coordinating rehabilitation, therapy, and
care needs for individuals with different conditions. She adopts a holistic approach and has the
necessary experience in dealing with complex issues. She ensures that the client and their goals are the centre of the case management process. Safi recognises the skills and value of different
members of the team, including family, in providing a client centred outcome and ultimately
improving quality of life.
