Case Manager & OT
Sarah is a Case manager and Independent Occupational Therapist, with over 19 year ‘s worth of experience as an Occupational Therapist. She has worked across a variety of different settings in the East Midlands area, with clients that have an acquired brain injury, orthopaedic injuries, medical conditions, neurological conditions and spinal injuries.
Prior to managing older people’s community mental health services in Derby, Sarah gained extensive experience across the field of mental health.
She began her career in day centre services, providing therapeutic group work and assessments for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems as well as complex physical conditions. Building on this, she went on to work both in the community and on psychiatric wards, providing assessment, treatment and intervention-always with a focus on well-being and encouraging independence wherever possible.
Sarah has always strived to achieve the best for her patients, focusing on putting the individual at the centre of the care-planning process. She has been an established and valued member of NHS dementia care services as well as care co-ordinator for individuals with severe and debilitating functional illness.
Alongside her clinical experience, Sarah is comfortable working in a high pressure, demanding environment, using supervision as a valuable tool for cohesive team-working and productivity. She understands the need for, and actively promotes, training opportunities and she considers reliability, honesty and professionalism to be three essential skills in any workplace environment.
Having spent time managing a large and assertive team of NHS professionals, Sarah understands the need for an honest and clear approach to promote cohesive team spirit and to bring out the best in each individual’s skill mix.
With a passion for promoting independence and extensive experience of care co-ordination and the OT process, Sarah is always looking for new opportunities to build on her experience and gain new skills.
