Rekhelan Ramkhelawan
Case Manager
Bsc (1st Class Hons) Medical Sciences
MSc Physician Associate Studies
Rekhelan is a clinically trained healthcare professional with experience supporting people with complex needs in both acute and mental health settings. As a qualified Physician Associate, she has spent over three years working in a busy Emergency Department, alongside experience supporting adults and young people within mental health services as a health care assistant.
Her academic background supports her clinical practice, giving her confidence in assessment, risk management, and clear documentation. She is trained to critically appraise research and apply evidence-based approaches and is committed to ongoing learning to ensure her practice remains current and informed by best practice.
Rekhelan is used to working with people whose lives have been significantly affected by injury or illness and take a calm, practical, and supportive approach. In her mental health roles, she supported individuals with day-to-day needs, encouraged medication compliance, and helped with tasks such as paperwork or education, whilst always prioritising safety, wellbeing, and engagement.
In the Emergency Department, she worked closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other community services, giving her a strong understanding of how coordinated, multidisciplinary support can help individuals regain independence, adapt to life-changing injuries, and achieve the best possible quality of life.
Alongside her clinical work, she is a Lead Facilitator with the charity YourStance, delivering education in basic life support, CPR, and haemorrhage control to young people and community groups, particularly those at increased risk of harm. This has strengthened her skills in engagement, education, and empowerment, and reinforced the importance of prevention, trust, and building positive relationships. These are principles she carries into her work as a Case Manager.
As a Case Manager, Rekhelan focuses on understanding each person’s unique needs, coordinating care across services, and providing consistent, practical, and person-centred support. Her goal is to help individuals and families navigate complex systems, work towards independence, and achieve meaningful outcomes while ensuring they feel supported, heard, and confident every step of the way.
